Who We Are
We partner with farmers and entrepreneurs so they can better nourish and sustain their communities, reduce the drudgery and improve the lives of rural women, and provide sustainable postharvest business solutions across Africa.
Life-Changing Postharvest Solutions
Based in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota with offices in Dakar, Senegal and Lilongwe, Malawi, we partner with the African private sector to provide smallholder farmers and rural entrepreneurs a portfolio of programs and support services that allow their farms to thrive and become more bountiful agricultural enterprises. We focus on developing solutions that fit the needs of the people that will be using them, in order to achieve a greater impact, with long-lasting positive effects for future generations of Africans.
Making An Impact for Over 38 Years
Originally founded in 1981 as "Compatible Technology International" by engineers from General Mills and Pillsbury, we have decades of experience developing solutions for rural farmers around the globe with tools that have been distributed in more than fifty countries. Over the last three decades, we have made tremendous strides in combating hunger and poverty in emerging economies and impacted hundreds of thousands of people.
