Who We Are
We are postharvest technology and agribusiness specialists, serving smallholder farmers and rural entrepreneurs in Africa.
What We Do
Based in Minneapolis - St. Paul, Minnesota, with offices in Nairobi, Kenya, we partner with the African private sector to create access to postharvest technologies and business solutions for rural communities so they can process and preserve more food. We provide technical, business and marketing training with follow on support so that micro-entrepreneurs can position their agribusinesses for success. We develop programs that emphasize inclusive growth, with particularly focus on women and youth, in order to achieve a greater impact, with long-lasting positive effects for future generations of Africans.
Mission & Vision
Mission
Bountifield International creates opportunities across Africa for rural entrepreneurs with tools and services to efficiently process, save, and sell more food.
Small businesses and farmers increase their incomes, more jobs are created, and Africa feeds herself and the world.
Vision
We envision an Africa free from hunger, poised to feed the world.
More Than 40 Years of Impact
Bountifield was originally founded in 1981 as "Compatible Technology International" by engineers from General Mills and Pillsbury with a vision to utilize skills of science and engineering to help farmers in developing countries overcome hunger, rise from poverty, and build hope. Over the last four decades, we have made tremendous strides in combating hunger and poverty in emerging economies and impacted over one million people.
